Seeking Work

UPDATE: The search for regular, full time work continues. The new academic job season recently began which will run from Fall 2012 through Spring 2013. I am also still interested in non-academic careers which match my experience and goal profile listed below. I have had a couple of calls about interviews, which is good, but there is still a long way to go. If you know of a position that might be a good fit for me please let me know. I have also decided to write some of the things I have been thinking about and discussing or teaching into a book or two (and if they pan out well there is a potential for more). So I am being as frugal as possible while trying to remain productive. Thanks and much appreciation for any and all help received in my search. -- 8/28/2012

I have material that has been on the back burner for a while in various states of completion. Some is being put out sporadically, some is waiting to be written or edited. This site is a hobby for me and an outlet for my musings and creative and critical thinking on matters of religion and spirituality. It is a good way to exercise my impulse to reflect and write and seek new ways of seeing and understanding topics that are difficult to summarize or characterize.

However, my current full time position has been eliminated with the expiration of my most recent contract. Hence I am in need of a new source of income and possibly a new career turn as soon as possible.

I am currently applying for both academic and non-academic positions, and I am always happy to make new connections and consider additional opportunities. If you know of anyone who might be interested in employing someone with one or more of the following qualifications please leave your information and relevant internet links in the comments below or to use the contact information at the bottom of the side column at right:

  • a graduate degree
  • extensive knowledge of anthropology, human anatomy, science (especially evolutionary theory)
  • teaching experience
  • research experience
  • an appreciation of contemporary issues combining science and religion
  • irrepressible curiosity and creativity
  • a love of and talent for writing and well-practiced editing skills
  • skills for investigating and learning new things rapidly
  • tendency to act as a catalyst for new ideas
  • record of seeing/finding patterns that others miss
  • ability to summarize and explain complex topics without over-simplifying
  • a great sense of humor

I prefer work that helps to explore, educate, inform, or inspire, so that would be a definite plus. Relocation is no problem for the right job. Starting off in a lower level position to gain additional experience in a particular sector of the economy outside of academia is also on the table. However, spammers and scammers are not welcome and without some kind of ability to verify the legitimacy of any suggested contacts or employers such comments will be ignored or deleted.

Thank you.
