Found this interesting idea when reading the Platform Sutra and a commentary to the sutra--
Affliction is just Bodhi and the cycle of birth and death is Nirvana.
(For those who might not recognize the term Bodhi refers to the enlightened mind, or the original mind, as opposed to the mind confused by greed, anger, and delusion)
