Continuing a general theme this week inspired by the Memorial Day holiday, allow me to present another prayer for peace. This one comes from the Taoist tradition. Specifically it is a quotation of a writing attributed to Lao Tzu. [Here is some context for those who are new to reading my perspective or who have forgotten my approach to things like "God", "religion", etc.]
If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.
A shared personal exploration of suchness and emptiness.
The practice of realizing Tathata in everyday life.
The discovery that the practice is everyday life.
