This is such a sad perversion of spirituality and religion. All cultures are able to distinguish between what humans can do to heal (either with or without this capacity coming from some Other Power) and what only Other Power(s) can heal. In Western culture Christianity has long taught the importance of medicine as being a part of God's gift/will/plan. Even Christ was tempted to simply use miracles to make people believe him and to heal all of the world's problems but he refused. Apparently these people failed this test, even as the truth was made plain in every cry and pained look from an innocent girl. updated 2 hours, 13 minutes agoWAUSAU, Wis. - Opening statements were set to begin Saturday in the trial of a father charged with second-degree reckless homicide for praying instead of seeking medical help for his gravely ill 11-year-old daughter.
Dale Neumann's wife, Leilani, was convicted of the same charge this spring in the 2008 death of Madeline Neumann, called Kara by her parents.
The girl died from undiagnosed diabetes on March 23, 2008, surrounded by people praying at the family's rural home in Weston in central Wisconsin. Someone called 911 when she stopped breathing...
