Fukai Mori (The Deep Forest)

Although often known in the US as an ending theme for an anime, apparently "Fukai Mori" was also a pop hit in Japan. I have posted song I like before, or at least their lyrics, particularly songs which resonate with something I otherwise don't know how to fully or properly express. I was surprised to learn I hadn't already done this song, so here it is. If you would like a translation of those lyrics, look below.

Fukai fukai mori no oku ni ima mo kitto
Okizari ni shita kokoro kakushiteru yo
Sagasu hodo no chikara mo naku tsukarehateta
Hitobito wa eien no yami ni kieru

Even now, in the depths of the deep, deep forest
An abandoned heart remains in hiding
So tired out that they haven't the strength to search
The people disappear into the eternal darkness

Chiisai mama nara kitto
Ima demo mieta ka na

When I was still little, I'm sure
I would have been able to see it

Bokutachi wa ikiru hodo ni
Nakushiteku sukoshizutsu
Itsuwari ya uso wo matoi
Tachi sukumu, koe mo naku

The more we live
The more we lose, little by little
Clad in our deceptions and lies
We stand petrified, noiselessly

Aoi aoi sora no iro mo kizukanai mama
Sugite yuku mainichi ga kawatte yuku
Tsukurareta wakugumi wo koe ima wo ikite
Sabitsuita kokoro mata ugoki dasu yo

Without even realizing the color of the blue, blue sky
The days passing by keep on changing
Surpassing artificial outlines, living for today
A chained-up heart again starts in motion

Toki no RIZUMU wo shireba
Mouichido toberu darou

If I just knew the rhythm of time
I'm sure I could fly again

Bokutachi wa ikiru hodo ni
Ikite yuku, doko made mo
Shinjiteru, hikari motome
Arukidasu, kimi to ima

As we continue to wander
We keep on living, everywhere we go
Looking for a light that we can believe in
I'll start walking, with you now

Bokutachi wa ikiru hodo ni
Nakushiteku sukoshizutsu
Itsuwari ya uso wo matoi
Tachi sukumu, koe mo naku

The more we live
The more we lose, little by little
Clad in our deceptions and lies
We stand petrified, noiselessly

Bokutachi wa samayoi nagara
Ikite yuku, doko made mo
Furikaeru michi wo tozashi
Aruiteku, eien ni

As we continue to wander
We keep on living, everywhere we go
Blocking off the road to return
I'll continue walking, eternally

Tachi sukumu, koe mo naku
Ikite yuku, eien ni

We stand petrified, noiselessly
We continue to live, eternally

  1. I've seen InuYasha once or twice, but don't remember the song. I like it though, especially with the English translation.

  2. Hey Mike, good to see you here. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :^)

Yeah, I liked the wistful nature of the tune (from what I understand it is connected to the death of the lead singer's boyfriend), but when I found a translation of the lyrics I liked the song even more.
